Grimms' Fairy Tales

Quick gameplay tips

  • Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding Hood are the only minion duo you actually DON'T want to have on the board together, as they cancel each other's abilities. It's easy to forget this when everyone else wants to be together, so keep that in mind.
  • Remember, Grimms' Blessing counts as every minion you OWN, whether they be in your hand, deck or discard pile. This is essentially a way to trigger specific minion abilities of the faction, so if this is in play Gretel would gain +2 power even if Hans isn't in play.
  • Don't get caught out by Grimms' Blessing preventing Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf's abilities! Save those two for when you don't have Grimms' Blessing in play, their abilities are powerful enough to play independently.
  • The Woodsman's Axe/Big Bad Wolf combo is strong, but try to only use it to score bases. Big Bad Wolf's 6 power is very useful for establishing a presence on a base, but being able to play a minion from your discard pile AND from ANYWHERE IN YOUR DECK is prime combo shenanigans material.

Gameplay

None of the really messed up stuff, unfortunately...

Grimms' Fairy Tales are all about specific minion interactions, gaining powerful effects when minions are played together on a base with their assigned buddy. Gretel gains +2 power when on a base with Hansel who also gains +2 power, Prince Charming and Charming Princess allow them to play an extra minion and action if they're on a base together. Specific interactions like these make the Grimms' Fairy Tales very reliant on planning and setup, as they only reach their full power when fulfilling each card's conditions. To help do this they've got lots of tools to search for specific cards from their deck, allowing them to retrieve those critical combo pieces. Teamwork is an action that allows them to search their deck and discard pile for a minion whose name appears in another minion's ability, then draw it or play it as an extra minion. This is really useful for getting an important combo out, particularly the Prince Charming/Charming Princess combo can be reliably executed if one of them is on the board. The main weakness of the Grimm's Fairy Tales is their reliance on setup, if you get unlucky with drawing then you're seriously limited in power - even more so than other factions.
