Grannies

Quick gameplay tips

  • Fun fact, AEG once sent me a single copy of Attic Treasures out of the blue. i assume this to be a thinly-veiled threat on my life.
  • Grannies love having a nice organised deck, this lets you get the most out of their unique abilities. As a general rule, try and bring actions to the top of your deck and minions to the bottom, as that will provide the most extra plays/draws.
  • Great Grandma can be played at any time, basically. You've got tools to guarantee playing her, but you lose nothing from having a go if you don't have the spare plays to ensure it. This makes her very persistent, as even if she's taken out in a clash of titans or from a scored base she'll likely be back the next turn.
  • Grannies have lots of extra plays - but only if you organise the deck properly. Make sure you've set everything up properly before a big play, lest you fall flat on your face. And beware factions that force you to shuffle cards into your deck, as they'll disrupt your plans!

Gameplay

Ooh hello dearie

The Grannies are here, and they're even older than the Elder Things. They're not even playing Smash Up, their game is Patience and by god they're good at it. Their whole shtick is carefully organising their deck, and then revealing said organised deck to play a whole host of extra cards. Lots of the Grannies' cards will allow them to peer at the upcoming or bottom cards in their deck, and then put them on the top or bottom of that very same deck. Their other cards then task them with revealing certain cards, and if they are of a certain type then they can be played as extras! This makes them very good at cycling through their deck, as they can send cards to the bottom but still have a way to play them (an even better way to play them!). Generally, revealing minions from the bottom of the deck is preferred and revealing actions from the top is the way to go. Matriarch is a great tool for drawing minions from the bottom of the deck, especially with effects that send minions to the bottom of the deck in play (and there are quite a few!). The downside is that any actions drawn will be discarded, but this is a fair price to pay for such a strong ability. Perhaps the strongest ability in the faction is Granny, it's probably the best go-to way to set up future plays for the Grannies. The main drawback of the Grannies is that they're kind old souls at heart, they don't have many ways to increase their power or deal with enemy minions. Feel free to try giving a naughty player a hard stare though, that might do the trick.
