Mounties

Quick gameplay tips

  • Mountie Major is best used against factions that love to swarm bases, and on bases that have higher breakpoints. More minions = more good. Very effective when used as a surprise minion play to pop a base. Alternatively, police any other players trying to play on Mountie Major's base so it's just left with one opponent's minions, and keep Mountie Major's power up without risking the base popping before you're ready.
  • As the Mounties, try to play on bases you don't want to score. This might sound counterintuitive, but you specialise in moving to bases with other player's minions. When the time is right, move on out to their base from over the hills to score some easy points. Cards like 'Haich-Q' are great for this, as you can set up out of the way and have reliable means to gallop back into the fray when you're needed.
  • The Mounties really like to muscle in on crowded bases, as they've also got some decent friendly minion synergy. Cards like 'When Calls the Badge' (Place a +1 power counter on each of your minions on a base) and 'Power Poutine' (Up to 2 of your minions at the same base gain +2 power until the end of the turn) favour a group of friendly minions.

Gameplay

OHH CANADA

The Mounties are all about policing other factions, cruising around on their battle meese to keep the peace. They specialise in moving around bases with other players to make sure they're behaving, gaining increased power for doing so. They don't have very many ways to actively affect enemy minions, and instead sort of stand there menacingly as their main method of crime deterrent. Their high levels of mobility can make these power boosts go a long way though, as peak Mountie efficiency is moving their most powerful minion/s away before a base scores to keep them on the board. Their main weakness is the aforementioned lack of ways to directly deal with enemy minions, which can leave them feeling like they're scrambling around on the board if they can't get a good foothold. They're also very dependent on other players, with experienced players able to position their minions (or save them in hand) to make it as hard for the Mounties as possible.
